Our History

Radlett Preparatory School was founded in 1938 with just 15 pupils, in the centre of Radlett by a former RAF officer and his wife. Mr and Mrs Smith, senior teachers at the time, acquired the school in 1972 and with numbers swelling to over 140 Radlett Preparatory School relocated its present location at Kendal Hall in 1980.

The main school is a substantial Georgian Grade II listed building, which is situated in delightful grounds which include extensive playing fields, a pond and an expanse of ancient woodland, dating back to the 15th century.

In 1994, Mr. and Mrs. Warren acquired the school from Mr. and Mrs. Smith and in 2013 acquired an additional 13 acres of land which were converted into playing fields. Throughout their time at Radlett, Mr and Mrs Warren cultivated a love for the arts in the pupils and staff, through the introduction of the Year 6 show performed annually at the Radlett Centre, a vibrant music and LAMDA programme and a creative art curriculum with annual trips to art galleries and festivals and the addition of a dedicated art studio.

Since the school moved to Kendal Hall, the school has seen the addition of the Early Years and Year 1 classroom blocks, a dining room, all weather court, cricket pitch and nets, a large classroom block extension and an art and design studio.

Following 31 years as Directors, Mrs Wright (daughter of Mr and Mrs Warren) and Mrs Flynn (the current Principal) acquired the school from Mr and Mrs Warren in 2025.
